New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the “Run for Unity’ at Rajpath here on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and urged people to take inspiration from his life and work for the country’s unity and integrity.
The prime minister also administered a pledge to thousands of people, which included school and college students, personnel of paramilitary forces, and people residing in and around here, gathered at the Rajpath.
PM pays tribute to Indira Gandhi on death anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday also paid tribute to the former prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi, on her death anniversary.
“Tributes to former Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary,” the prime minister said in a statement.
She was the daughter of the first prime minister of the country, late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on November 19, 1917.
Indira Gandhi was assassinated on October 31, 1984, by her bodyguards a few months after she ordered the storming of the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar to counter the Punjab insurgency.
She held the highest office as the prime minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977. She again chaired the prime minister’s office from January 14, 1980 till her death.
