New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the country’s record-breaking gas production on Sunday, emphasising the significance of energy self-reliance in realising the vision of a developed India. His comments followed a post by Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who announced that the nation has set a new benchmark in gas production.

Record Gas Production Milestones

According to the data, gas production in India has shown substantial growth over recent years. The output increased from 28.7 BCM (billion cubic metres) in 2020-21 to 36.43 BCM in 2023-24. Projections indicate that gas production could reach 45.3 BCM by 2026. This significant rise in production underscores the progress in the sector and the country’s growing capacity to meet its energy needs.

In his message on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to the people of India for this achievement. He highlighted that achieving self-reliance in energy is crucial for advancing towards the goal of a developed nation.
