New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will roll out development projects worth more than ₹24,800 crore during his visit to Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab on Friday. The visit will feature the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train, along with the inauguration of major highway, railway, healthcare and education projects.

Haryana to witness hydrogen train launch and highway projects

Prime Minister Modi will begin his visit in Jind, Haryana, where he will flag off India’s first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat at around 11 am.

Developed using indigenous technology, the train runs on hydrogen fuel cells, which generate electricity using hydrogen and emit only water vapour, making it an environmentally friendly mode of transport.

At Eklavya Stadium, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth around ₹14,700 crore.

Among the major projects are National Highway works worth over ₹12,470 crore, including the inauguration of Packages 1 to 5 of the 157.92-km Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, built at an estimated cost of ₹9,680 crore. The expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Katra from about 14 hours to nearly six hours, and between Delhi and Amritsar from around eight hours to four hours.

He will also dedicate the Ambala-Kala Amb Highway and the Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway, besides laying the foundation stone for the Hansi-Barwala Brownfield Highway Project.

Other projects include the inauguration of the Elevated Railway Track at Kurukshetra, Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani, Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Narnaul, along with the foundation stone for the Sikh Museum at Kurukshetra.

Chandigarh to receive healthcare and education boost

In Chandigarh, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth over ₹4,700 crore.

At PGIMER, he will inaugurate the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre, besides laying the foundation stone for a 150-bed Critical Care Block under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).

Education projects include new hostel facilities at Punjab Engineering College and Government College, Sector 46, along with the foundation stone for a Research Scholars’ Hostel at Punjab Engineering College.

He will also inaugurate the six-lane Greenfield Highway connecting IT City and Kurali in Mohali district and lay the foundation stone for the PR-7 Spur of the Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway (NH-205A).

Punjab to get railway stations and new connectivity projects

The final leg of the visit will take the Prime Minister to Jalandhar, where he will launch infrastructure projects worth over ₹5,470 crore.

He will inaugurate 75 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including Jalandhar Cantt, upgraded with modern passenger amenities while preserving local heritage and architecture.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, built at a cost of around ₹830 crore, and flag off the Kartoli-Ambala and Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi train services.

Road infrastructure projects include the inauguration of Package 6 of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the foundation stone for the Southern Ludhiana Bypass, a six-lane Greenfield highway designed to improve connectivity and reduce travel time between Ludhiana and Bathinda.

The projects are expected to strengthen transport infrastructure, healthcare services and educational facilities while boosting economic development across the three regions
