New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with students and young people from across India on Thursday through the Khelo India Dialogue, an initiative focused on sports, youth leadership and civic participation ahead of National Sports Day.
The interaction, organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), will take place through video conferencing at 11 am. Students from two colleges in every district across states and Union Territories are expected to join the programme.
Students to discuss India’s sporting future
A key part of the programme will be Yuva Samvaad, where students will discuss issues including sports facilities, coaching, sports science, leadership and volunteering.
The discussions are also expected to focus on identifying sporting talent and supporting the long-term development of athletes as India prepares for future Olympic ambitions, including the proposed 2036 Games.
Youth leadership gets focus
The programme will also encourage young people to discuss their role in nation building, governance and social responsibility.
Students and MY Bharat volunteers are expected to take part in local discussions following the national interaction. Participants will also have opportunities to interact with Indian sportspersons and medal winners.
Sports to support anti-drug campaign
The Khelo India Dialogue will also highlight efforts to tackle substance abuse among young people.
Participants are expected to discuss how sports, fitness and community activities can support the Nasha Mukt Yuva campaign and encourage young people to stay away from drugs.
The programme comes as the government seeks greater direct engagement with young Indians and aims to give students a platform to share ideas on sports, leadership and the country’s development.
