Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s cheerful interaction with actors Durgesh Kumar and Ashok Pathak, known for their popular roles in the hit web series Panchayat, has become a talking point on social media.

A video of the meeting, held on Tuesday, shows Modi warmly greeting the actors with a handshake and a smile. The clip, shared online with the theme music from Panchayat, quickly gained traction among fans of the series. Telugu actor Ram Charan and his wife, Upasana Konidela, were also present during the interaction.

The post was captioned, “A few moments with Binod,” referring to Ashok Pathak’s much-loved character from the series.

Actors thank fans for their support

Following the viral moment, Ashok Pathak expressed gratitude to fans in a social media post, thanking them for their love and blessings. Both Pathak and Durgesh Kumar have earned widespread appreciation for portraying Binod and Bhushan, characters who evolved from supporting antagonists into fan favourites over the show’s four seasons.

Durgesh Kumar, a National School of Drama alumnus, has also appeared in films such as Highway, Sultan, Sanju, Dhadak and Bhakshak. Ashok Pathak has featured in Bittoo Boss, Shanghai, A Death in the Gunj and 102 Not Out.

Panchayat continues its successful run

Created by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar, Panchayat recently released its fourth season, which reportedly recorded the highest opening viewership in the show’s history.

Prime Video and The Viral Fever have already confirmed a fifth season for 2026. The series has also earned critical acclaim, winning the Best Web Series (OTT) award at the 54th International Film Festival of India in 2023.
