A police driver has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a dramatic incident at a petrol pump in Kannur, Kerala. The altercation occurred on Sunday evening when the driver, identified as K Santhosh Kumar, attempted to leave without paying for fuel.
Anil, the petrol pump employee, confronted Kumar about the unpaid amount, leading to a heated argument. CCTV footage that has since gone viral shows Kumar suddenly accelerating his car, causing Anil to be thrown onto the bonnet. The vehicle then sped along a busy highway for nearly one kilometer with Anil clinging to the bonnet before coming to a stop.
Kannur City Police Commissioner Ajith Kumar confirmed that various charges, including attempted murder, have been filed against the accused. Kumar has been suspended from service following the incident.
Anil sustained injuries to his hands during the ordeal and subsequently filed a complaint with the Town Police. The arrest of K Santhosh Kumar was officially recorded on Monday.
