The Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) police have initiated an investigation after multiple videos surfaced online showing a group of students from a private college allegedly performing dangerous stunts in a convoy of over 30 cars.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (BKT) Gyanendra Singh said the matter has come to the notice of the police and that the videos are being verified. “Appropriate action will be taken as per law,” he stated.
According to the Lucknow Police, those involved are being identified through vehicle registration numbers and CCTV footage. Legal proceedings will follow once the individuals are traced.
Risky acts caught on camera
Three video clips — 34 seconds, 44 seconds and 17 seconds in duration — have gone viral on social media platforms. The footage purportedly shows students sitting on car rooftops, leaning out of windows, cheering, overtaking one another and racing along a stretch of road.
SUVs and hatchbacks were seen forming a convoy. In one clip, vehicles line up along the roadside before moving in succession, with students peeping through sunroofs and waving their hands. Another video shows the convoy entering an open field, where the stunts reportedly continued.
The shortest clip captures two cars colliding while a video reel was being filmed. Though no serious injuries were reported, the crash raised concerns over potential consequences.
Growing concerns over stunt culture
The incident has sparked debate on social media regarding reckless driving and the increasing trend of filming risky acts for online attention. Many users have called for strict enforcement of traffic rules to deter such behaviour.
Police officials reiterated that performing stunts on public roads endangers not only those involved but also other commuters, and warned of strict legal action against violators.
