Kolkata: The investigation into the alleged paper leak protest intensified after Kolkata Police conducted a crime scene reconstruction at the protest site, taking five arrested protesters to the location as part of the probe.

The accused were reportedly taken to the spot barefoot while investigators recreated the sequence of events to gather evidence and verify the circumstances surrounding the protest.

Crime scene reconstructed

Police carried out the reconstruction exercise in the presence of the arrested protesters to establish the chain of events and collect further evidence. The exercise formed part of the ongoing investigation into the violence and alleged offences committed during the protest.

Officials said the reconstruction would help investigators corroborate statements and identify the role played by those involved.

Two more arrested

Meanwhile, police arrested two more suspects in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Wakar Azam (35) and Javed Akhtar (32).

With the latest arrests, the total number of people taken into custody in the case has risen to 16.

Investigation continues

Police said the investigation is progressing and further arrests have not been ruled out. Officials are examining available evidence, including witness statements and other materials collected during the probe.

Authorities have maintained that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for any unlawful activities linked to the protest.
