A fiery political row has broken out after Delhi CM Rekha Gupta was allegedly assaulted during a public event, with BJP and AAP trading sharp accusations.
The BJP has hit back strongly after AAP MLA Anil Jha labeled the incident a staged act, calling Gupta and her party a “drama company”. Jha alleged the entire scene was orchestrated by Gupta herself to gain public sympathy. He even cited a past student protest where he claimed Gupta faked an injury using her own hair.
BJP’s Harish Khurana questioned AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal directly, asking if this was the party’s official position. Khurana hinted at a possible ploy by AAP, pointing to a history of political theatrics.
Meanwhile, AAP leaders including Kejriwal and Atishi have condemned the attack. Kejriwal emphasized that while political differences are normal, violence has no place in democracy. Atishi also dismissed a viral image allegedly linking the attacker to AAP, calling it AI-edited.
Rekha Gupta, recovering from the incident, confirmed she’s feeling better and vowed to continue the ‘Jan Sunwai’ programme with more commitment. The accused, Rajesh Bhaiji, has been taken into custody. Police say he was upset about the government’s silence over a Supreme Court order to remove stray dogs.
The situation remains tense, with both parties accusing each other of misleading the public for political mileage.
