Former MP Prathap Simha accused Home Minister G Parameshwara of halting arrests in the Udayagiri Police Station attack case, claiming that the police action has stalled since February 14, when Parameshwara allegedly visited Mysuru for a closed-door meeting with law enforcement officials. According to Simha, the total number of arrests, which stood at 16 on that date, has not increased since then.
Speaking to the media in Mysuru on Wednesday, Simha stated, “It appears that the Home Minister has instructed the police not to arrest any more rioters. He seems to have visited Mysuru with this sole purpose in mind.” He further criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government, accusing it of appeasing a particular community, implying that this stance was influencing law enforcement decisions.
Simha raised several questions regarding the case, such as, “Why is the government hesitant to arrest the 1,000 unnamed individuals implicated in the attack? Is the government unwilling to arrest the mufti Mustak Maqbooli, whose provocative speech is on video?” He also questioned whether the Constitution of India, drafted by Dr. Ambedkar, applied to all citizens equally, implying that the Udayagiri case was being handled under different standards.
Simha also criticized both the Home Minister and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for allegedly prioritizing Muslim votes over law and order, suggesting that their actions were damaging the state’s governance. He expressed frustration with what he saw as a lack of accountability, stating, “The CM and Home Minister have no moral authority to remain in power while supporting rioters and appeasing certain groups.”
