Pregnant Woman Dies After Being Given ‘Wrong’ Injection

Wrong' Injection

Two individuals posing as medical professionals are facing serious charges, including culpable homicide, following the tragic death of a Dalit woman due to an alleged medical error. According to police and Health department sources, the incident occurred when the woman, admitted for delivery at a private hospital, was purportedly administered a faulty injection. Tragically, both the woman and her nine-month-old fetus did not survive.

Aurai police station’s in-charge, Sachidanand Pandey, confirmed that a case has been filed against the accused, who are currently evading authorities. The complaint was lodged by Ankit Kannaujiya, a resident of Vikrampur, alleging that his sister-in-law, Anchal (23), had been admitted to the hospital for delivery on April 23. The accused doctors, identified as Vinay Kumar Pandey and Shiv Bahadur Yadav, reportedly charged ₹50,000 for the procedure and administered an injection that led to the fatal outcome. The doctors allegedly fled the scene, citing lack of oxygen, shortly thereafter.

Chief Medical Officer Santosh Kumar Chak of Bhadohi revealed that the hospital where the incident occurred was not registered with the health department. Moreover, investigations led by Additional Chief Medical Officer A.K. Maurya uncovered that the accused doctors possessed fraudulent medical credentials.

Further scrutiny, including post-mortem examinations, indicated that both the woman and her fetus succumbed due to the effects of the incorrect injection, intended to induce unconsciousness.

Following these findings, Aurai police registered a case against the accused doctors based on the investigation report from the CMO and the complaint filed by Ankit Kannaujiya. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the suspects, who remain at large.
