President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to address a joint sitting of Parliament today, marking her first presidential address since the formation of the third National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
Following the President’s speech, both Houses of Parliament will deliberate on a motion of thanks introduced by members.
The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha commenced on Monday, with the Rajya Sabha session starting today.
In the recent general elections, the ruling BJP-led NDA secured a third consecutive term with 293 seats, falling short of the BJP’s anticipated goal of over 400 seats for the alliance.
The opposition gained strength in the elections, with the INDIA bloc winning 233 seats, including 98 for the Congress—a significant increase from their 2019 tally of 52 seats.
