President Droupadi Murmu Turns 66; Vice President, PM Modi Greet Her

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were among several prominent leaders who extended their wishes for a long and healthy life to President Droupadi Murmu on her 66th birthday on Thursday.

Numerous citizens and leaders expressed their birthday greetings to President Murmu on the microblogging platform ‘X’, while some dignitaries visited her at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

“On my birthday, I am grateful to receive warm wishes from fellow citizens. Your love and support are a source of energy and inspiration for me. I express my heartfelt gratitude and wish everyone a prosperous future,” said the President on ‘X’.

President Murmu began her day by visiting the Lord Jagannath temple in Delhi, where she prayed for the well-being of all citizens.

“Jai Jagannath! Today, I visited the Jagannath temple in Delhi and prayed for the welfare of all countrymen, hoping that our nation continues to set new standards of progress,” the President’s office stated in a Hindi post on ‘X’, accompanied by photos from the visit.

Born on June 20, 1958, in Uparbeda village, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, President Murmu took office as the 15th President of the country on July 25, 2022.

Prime Minister Modi, in his birthday message to President Murmu, praised her “wisdom and dedication to serving the poor and marginalized” as a powerful guiding force.

“Warm birthday wishes to Rashtrapati Ji. Her exemplary service and dedication to our nation inspire us all. Her wisdom and emphasis on serving the poor and marginalized are a strong guiding force,” Modi expressed in a post on ‘X’.

“Her life journey gives hope to millions of people. India will always be grateful to her for her tireless efforts and visionary leadership. May she be blessed with a long and healthy life,” he added.

“Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, visited President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to convey birthday greetings,” read another post on ‘X’ from her office.

Earlier in the day, President Murmu visited the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities in New Delhi, where she spent time with ‘Divyang’ children, students, and enjoyed a cultural performance by them.

She also inaugurated the MITTI cafe within the President’s Estate, managed by differently-abled individuals, spending time there and celebrating her birthday with the staff.

MITTI is a renowned non-profit organization that provides employment and training to adults with disabilities, promoting an inclusive society where everyone can thrive regardless of their abilities.

President Murmu also interacted with children from the President’s Estate who had participated in summer camps and art workshops organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan during their vacation.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind, along with his family, and other dignitaries such as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and others visited President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to convey their birthday wishes.
