New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu will address the inaugural session of the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 (CDD-2025) this morning, marking the start of a two-day platform that brings together national and international experts to discuss India’s evolving defence and security landscape. The event is centred around the theme “Reform to Transform: Sashakt, Surakshit aur Viksit Bharat.”
Focus on defence reforms and India’s 2047 vision
CDD-2025 will explore key areas essential to India’s long-term security ambitions as the nation works towards its vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The agenda includes discussions on:
- Defence reforms and modernisation
- Technological transformation in the armed forces
- Civil–military integration
- India’s emerging regional and global security priorities
Officials said the dialogue aims to foster deeper cooperation, informed policymaking, and a shared understanding of India’s strategic interests in an increasingly complex security environment.
Young Leaders Forum sets the stage
Ahead of the main dialogue, the Indian Army hosted the Young Leaders Forum on 31 October 2025 as part of the CDD-2025 engagement series. The session aimed at enhancing strategic and national security awareness among young professionals and students, strengthening the bridge between youth and India’s defence establishment.
Participants were exposed to emerging security challenges, leadership practices, and the role of technology and innovation in India’s defence future.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to address second day
The second day of the event will feature an address by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is expected to outline India’s defence priorities, policy direction, and the government’s roadmap for strengthening national security.
Senior military leaders, diplomats, defence analysts, and international experts will also participate in panel discussions and thematic sessions across the two days.
A platform shaping India’s strategic thinking
First launched as a flagship dialogue platform for comprehensive defence deliberations, the Chanakya Defence Dialogue has grown into a key annual event that brings together diverse stakeholders.
By promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange, CDD-2025 aims to strengthen India’s defence preparedness and contribute to the nation’s transformation into a secure, strong, and developed country by 2047.
