New Delhi: A meeting of NDA MPs is underway at the Parliament’s central hall. At the start of the meeting, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh proposed Narendra Modi’s name as the leader of the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha, a motion also supported by BJP leader Amit Shah.
Following Modi’s election as the leader of the NDA, senior alliance members such as TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar are set to join the prime minister in a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. During this meeting, they will present the list of parliamentarians who support Modi and formally stake a claim to form the government.
Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony for his third consecutive term as Prime Minister is anticipated to take place on June 9. The event is expected to be attended by several global leaders who have received special invitations.
On Thursday, the Chief Election Commissioner and his team met with the President to submit the list of newly elected members.
Addressing newly elected MPs, PM Modi took a jibe at the Congress party failing to secure 100 seats in this Lok Sabha election and said that the grand old party failed to touch 100 seats in the last 10 years.
