Pune: Vishal Agarwal, father of the teenager accused in the 2024 Pune Porsche crash case, has clarified that a viral video showing him celebrating with family members was recorded nearly two years ago and has no connection with his bail in the ongoing case. The clarification came after the footage was widely circulated on social media with claims that it showed him celebrating after securing bail in the alleged blood sample-swapping case.
The family issued a statement stating that the video was from a personal celebration held months before the fatal crash and subsequent legal proceedings.
Family says video predates crash case
According to the statement issued by the family, the footage was recorded during Agarwal’s 25th wedding anniversary celebrations held in Goa on September 2, 2023.
The family stated that the gathering was attended by close relatives, friends and acquaintances and had taken place several months before the fatal Porsche crash on May 19, 2024.
In the video, Agarwal is seen dancing with family members and guests during what appeared to be a private event. The footage later resurfaced online and was shared with claims linking it to recent developments in the legal proceedings.
The family maintained that the celebration had no relation to the ongoing investigation or bail proceedings.
Family alleges misleading circulation of footage
The statement further alleged that the video was being shared with misleading claims on social media.
According to the family, legal action is being considered to determine how private videos reached public platforms.
The statement also claimed that the circulation of personal footage without consent raised concerns regarding privacy rights.
The family argued that the video was incorrectly associated with developments in the Pune Porsche case, leading to public misunderstanding.
Victim’s family reacts strongly
The viral video also drew criticism from the family of one of the victims killed in the crash.
According to reports, the father of one of the deceased questioned the developments and expressed concern over the broader legal process linked to the case.
He reportedly criticised what he viewed as a lack of deterrence and called for stricter measures and stronger punishment provisions in serious offences.
The comments reflected continuing public attention and emotional responses surrounding the case, which had generated widespread discussion across the country.
Bail granted earlier in blood sample case
The Supreme Court had granted bail to Vishal Agarwal in March in connection with the alleged blood sample-swapping investigation linked to the crash case.
Investigators have alleged that a conspiracy was carried out to manipulate blood samples connected to the juvenile accused in an effort to influence the outcome of alcohol testing.
Authorities have continued investigations into allegations of evidence tampering and other related aspects of the case.
Crash triggered nationwide outrage
The case stems from the fatal Porsche crash that took place in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area on May 19, 2024.
Investigators alleged that a Porsche car driven by a 17-year-old boy struck a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of two IT professionals.
The incident triggered widespread public outrage and led to multiple investigations involving allegations of evidence manipulation and attempts to interfere with the inquiry.
The case continues to remain under close public and legal scrutiny, with developments in the investigation drawing significant attention.
