Pune: Amid widespread outrage over the rape and murder of a minor in Maharashtra’s Pune district, the victim’s father has made an emotional appeal to political leaders, asking them to stay away from the family until justice is delivered.
In a video message, the grieving father said that while he was away at a programme, several political leaders visited his home. He urged them not to come forward with condolences until the accused is punished.
He stated that his only demand is justice for his daughter and insisted that he would meet political leaders only after the accused is awarded the death penalty.

Despite the family’s request, political figures continued to visit or reach out. Among them were MLA Rohit Pawar and MP Medha Kulkarni. Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange was also expected to meet the family.

The incident, reported from the Nasrapur area on May 1, involved the alleged rape and murder of a four-year-old girl. According to police, a 65-year-old labourer lured the child to a cattle enclosure on the pretext of offering food.
He allegedly raped the child and later killed her by striking her with a stone. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
The crime has sparked widespread anger across the state, with villagers staging protests and demanding strict action against the accused.
NCW condemns incident
The National Commission for Women strongly condemned the crime, describing it as “deeply painful” and “a blot on humanity.”
Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said the commission has taken cognisance of the case and is pushing for strict action under the POCSO Act, along with a time-bound trial.
