With Mahashivratri just a day away, Saswat Ranjan Sahoo, a talented artist from Puri, has sculpted an intricate miniature model of Kedarnath Temple using 602 matchsticks. Standing 12 cm tall and 9 cm wide, the model took four days to complete, reflecting both his artistic excellence and deep devotion to Lord Shiva.
Each matchstick was carefully arranged to replicate the iconic pilgrimage site. Saswat, a resident of Kumbharapada, expressed, “This is my humble tribute to Lord Shiva and a special greeting for Mahashivratri. The Kedarnath Temple holds deep spiritual value.”
His passion for miniature art has brought him widespread admiration. Saswat initially gained recognition during the COVID-19 lockdown, crafting remarkable sculptures. His replica of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, made from 7,780 matchsticks, earned him nationwide praise. In 2022, he built three miniature chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra using 4,830 matchsticks, completing them in 18 days.
His latest creation adds a unique artistic dimension to Mahashivratri celebrations, inspiring many with his dedication and craftsmanship.
