Quit Cong or form your own party: Cong leader takes dig at Kapil Sibal

New Delhi: Congress leader Kapil Sibal attacking the Congress party after the recent Bihar poll debacle has not gone down with many leaders.

Close on the heels of Salman Khurshid calling it ‘periodic pangs of anxiety’, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, yet another Congress leader has opposed Sibal by saying that the ones criticising the Congress can either join some other party or start their own.

“If some leaders think that Congress is not the right party for them then they may set up a new party or can join any other party which they think is progressive and according to their interest. But they should not indulge in such embarrassing activities since it can erode the credibility of the Congress. They enjoy proximity to the Gandhi family. They can raise issues before the party leadership or in the right party forum,” Chaudhary told NDTV questioning where ‘these leaders’ were during the Bihar elections.

He said that if such leaders are serious about revamping the party, the they should prove their mettle on the ground.

“Did they volunteer to work for the party during the recent Bihar elections,” he asked.

Recently, Sibal had said that the Congress was in decline and that the time for introspection was over.

He said he was forced to raise issues in public as there was no forum in the party to express his views.
