In a heartwarming incident, staff of the South Central Railway helped a pregnant woman safely deliver a baby girl aboard a moving train.
Swift response during emergency
The incident occurred on April 5 aboard Train No. 13352 (Alappuzha–Dhanbad Express), when the woman went into labour shortly after the train crossed Annavaram station. She was travelling with her family in the B1 coach.
As the situation turned urgent, her family alerted the on-duty ticket checking staff for assistance.
Staff ensure safe delivery
Responding promptly, G. Jyothi, a travelling ticket inspector (Amenities) from the Vijayawada Division, took charge and coordinated immediate support. Railway staff arranged medical assistance through the 108 emergency ambulance service.
Considering the urgency, the train was provided a special halt at Elamanchili station to facilitate further care.
Mother and baby safe
With coordinated efforts, the mother and newborn were safely shifted to a government hospital in Elamanchili. Both are reported to be in good health.
Other staff members, including Bipul Kumar and Juber Khan, also assisted in ensuring the safe handling of the situation.
