A wedding celebration in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, descended into chaos after an argument over a shortage of rasgullas erupted into a violent clash between the bride’s and groom’s families. CCTV footage of the November 29 incident, widely circulated on X, shows guests throwing punches, shoving each other, and even using plastic chairs as weapons.

According to police, the altercation began shortly after wedding rituals concluded at a hotel where the bride’s family was staying. The groom’s family had arrived from a nearby village. When the bride’s relatives complained that rasgullas had run out at the dessert counter, tempers flared and a full brawl followed. The couple was reportedly en route to the wedding hall when the fight began.

Police said several people from both sides were injured. The groom’s father, Mahendra Prasad, confirmed the argument started over rasgullas and alleged that the bride’s family later filed a “false dowry case”. The groom’s mother, Munni Devi, claimed that amid the chaos, jewellery meant as gifts was taken and that their side had paid for the hotel booking.

With tensions escalating, the bride’s family called off the wedding, while the groom’s family said they were willing to proceed despite the incident. Police confirmed that a dowry case was filed after the cancellation.
