Nerul: A road-rage incident in Nerul turned dangerous after an argument between an Ola cab driver and a Swift car driver allegedly ended with the cab driver being assaulted and forced to cling to the bonnet of the speeding car for nearly 2 km.
The incident took place around 9.35 pm on August 15 along Sarsole village road in Sector 20, near Nerul pond.
Argument over dangerous overtaking
According to the complaint, the dispute began after the Swift driver allegedly accused the Ola cab driver of dangerously cutting him off while overtaking on an internal road.
The argument reportedly escalated, with the Swift driver allegedly attacking the cab driver, identified as 27-year-old Pradeepkumar Pandey of Naigaon, on the head with a bamboo stick.
The assault left Pandey seriously injured.
Cab driver clung to bonnet for 2 km
The situation became even more dangerous when the Swift driver allegedly drove away with Pandey on the bonnet of the car.
Pandey reportedly shouted for help and repeatedly asked the driver to stop, fearing that he could fall from the speeding vehicle and be killed. The car continued for about 2 km before slowing down.
Pandey then managed to jump off the bonnet. The driver allegedly sped away, leaving the injured cab driver on the road.
Nerul police launch investigation
Pandey later approached Nerul police station and registered an FIR against the unidentified Swift driver, who remains absconding.
