CHENNAI: A routine road mishap turned fatal in Pannur village near Mappedu on Friday, after a minor accident escalated into a violent revenge attack, leaving a 45-year-old bus driver dead.
Murali, a staff bus driver for a private factory, was on duty Friday morning when his vehicle accidentally brushed against a motorcycle carrying Arun and his family. While Arun suffered only minor injuries and the pillion rider was unharmed, an argument briefly ensued. The two men, however, settled the matter at the spot and went their separate ways.
But the issue didn’t end there.
Later that day, after Arun recounted the incident to his friends, they allegedly instigated him into retaliating. By evening, Arun’s associates intercepted Murali’s bus near Pannur, forcibly pulled him out, and brutally assaulted him before fleeing.
Murali was rushed to the government hospital in Sriperumbudur, but succumbed to his injuries.
Mappedu police have booked a case of murder and formed special teams to nab the suspects, who remain on the run.
