New Delhi: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi in an aggressive tone attacked the ‘RSS people’ of stopping him from entering a temple in Congress-ruled Assam, during his visit to the North Eastern state last week.
“Who are they to stop me from going to a mandir?” Gandhi questioned angrily as he spoke to reporters outside Parliament, on backdrop of Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy being asked to stay away from PM’s programme in Kerala, adding, “This is how the BJP’s thought process works.”
Stating that he wanted to visit the Barpeta temple, Gandhi said that it was the RSS people’ who stopped him.
On Mr Gandhi’s allegation that he was stopped from entering a temple in a state ruled by his own party, the Congress too blamed the RSS and BJP.
“The RSS and BJP orchestrated the gathering that blocked Rahul Gandhi’s entry into the temple. We have ordered an inquiry. The state government and administration didn’t want a disturbance as thousands were there for Mr Gandhi’s yatra,” said Congress lawmaker Gaurav Gogoi, whose father Tarun Gogoi is Chief Minister of Assam.
