A Russian woman’s deeply emotional account of love, marriage and alleged betrayal in India has gone viral after being shared on Humans of Bombay, drawing widespread reactions across social media.

Olga, who arrived in India in 2015 to pursue her PhD, wrote that she fell in love with an Indian man she had met a year earlier. The couple married in 2019, and she described India as her new home.

Disappearance and shock revelation

According to her post, in November 2023 she applied for a spousal visa, requiring her husband to attend an interview. Instead, she claims he disappeared in January 2024 without explanation.

Olga said she filed a missing person’s complaint and spent six months fearing he was dead. With her visa process stalled, she stated she could neither leave the country nor stabilise her situation financially.

In July, she alleges she discovered through Instagram that her husband was alive, dressed as a sadhu and leading tourists in the hills. She wrote that she was shaken by the discovery, claiming he knew she believed him to be missing.

Allegations of further betrayal

Olga said her husband later apologised and briefly returned. She moved to Himachal Pradesh for work, believing they were rebuilding their relationship. However, she claims he was living with another woman nearby and that he attempted to portray her as mentally unstable when confronted.

In a subsequent update, Olga alleged she was recently deboarded from a flight to Russia due to a missing complaint reportedly filed by her husband. She says she remains in India, engaged in ongoing legal and personal battles.

Her story has sparked debate online, with many expressing solidarity while others have urged due legal process and verification of claims.
