In light of persistent heavy rainfall, authorities in coastal Karnataka have declared a precautionary holiday for educational institutions across multiple districts.

In Udupi district, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa K has announced a holiday for all Anganwadis, primary, and high schools on Thursday to ensure student safety amid weather concerns. The decision comes as rainfall continues to disrupt normal life in the region.

Similarly, all schools and Anganwadis in the taluks of Bantwal, Mangaluru, Moodbidri, Mulki, and Ullal will remain closed due to the relentless downpour. Officials stated the move was taken to avoid travel risks for children and staff as several areas face waterlogging and reduced visibility.

In Dakshina Kannada district, authorities extended the holiday to include pre-university (PU) colleges as well, citing continuous rain and the forecast of further heavy showers.

Local administrations have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel. Disaster management teams are on standby, and schools will remain closed until further notice if the situation worsens.
