A senior citizen was found dead with head injuries near a Tasmac liquor shop in Denkanikottai town of Krishnagiri district on Tuesday, triggering suspicion and a police investigation.

The deceased has been identified as K Muniyappan (65), a resident of Maagadi village. Passersby noticed his body lying on a parcel of agricultural land along the Dhimmachandram–Denkanikottai road and immediately alerted the police.

Police rush to the spot

Denkanikottai police rushed to the location and conducted a preliminary inspection. The body was found with visible head injuries, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the man’s death.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Investigation under way

A case has been registered at the Denkanikottai police station, and investigations are under way. Police officials said they are examining whether the death was caused by an accident, a fall, or foul play.

Officers are questioning local residents and shop employees in the area, including those near the Tasmac outlet, and checking for CCTV footage to trace Muniyappan’s last movements.

Police said the postmortem report will play a crucial role in determining the cause of death and the nature of the head injuries.
