New Delhi: Several changes affecting households, travellers and taxpayers are set to take effect around September 1. For domestic LPG consumers, August 31 is the deadline to complete the mandatory Aadhaar-based e-KYC process. Oil marketing companies have advised customers who have not completed verification to do so before the deadline to avoid possible disruption to LPG services.
LPG prices may change
Oil marketing companies generally review LPG prices at the beginning of every month. Therefore, domestic and commercial LPG cylinder prices may be revised from September 1, although the actual rates will depend on the companies’ official announcement. ATF prices may also be reviewed, potentially affecting airline operating costs.
International travel gets easier
International passengers departing from India will see a significant change at immigration counters from September 1. Travellers will no longer need to have their boarding pass stamped at immigration. Electronic boarding passes displayed on mobile phones, as well as printed boarding passes, will be accepted. The Bureau of Immigration has introduced the change to simplify and speed up the departure process.
Other changes to watch
Eligible taxpayers with non-audit business or professional income have August 31 as the applicable ITR filing deadline for assessment year 2026–27. Meanwhile, Tata Motors is set to increase prices of its passenger vehicles and SUVs by up to Rs 25,000 from September 1.
Consumers should therefore check their LPG e-KYC status, applicable tax deadlines and updated prices before the new month begins.
