A seven-year-old girl lost her life after being attacked by a wild boar while playing outside her house in a tribal settlement in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district on Saturday, officials said.

The tragic incident occurred around 10.30 am in Aka Doda village under the Ganjbasoda area of Madhya Pradesh. The victim, identified as Kiran, was playing near her home when a wild boar suddenly emerged from the nearby forest and attacked her.

Wild boar emerged from forest area

Police said the animal gored the child in the abdomen with its tusks, causing severe internal injuries. Officials said the attack was extremely violent, with the child’s intestines protruding due to the impact.

Family members immediately rushed Kiran on a motorcycle to a government hospital around noon. After administering primary treatment, doctors referred her to Vidisha district hospital considering the critical nature of her injuries.

However, the child died on the way to Vidisha around 3 pm, police said.

Family and village in shock

The girl belonged to a tribal family residing in a settlement located about one kilometre away from the main village, close to forest land and agricultural fields in Vidisha district.

Her father, Hari Singh, told police that wild boars are frequently spotted in the area at night but are rarely seen during daytime hours. “We never expected something like this to happen in broad daylight,” he reportedly said.

Kiran was a Class 2 student at the local government school and the youngest of three siblings.

Police action and safety concerns

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and conducted a post-mortem examination. Further legal proceedings were underway at the time of filing this report.

The incident has raised fresh concerns among residents living near forested areas about increasing human-wildlife conflict. Villagers have urged authorities to take preventive measures to protect children and families living close to forests and farmlands.

Forest and district officials are expected to assess the situation and consider steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
