Today, Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), expressed his determination to regain control of Maharashtra, emphasizing the necessity of winning the upcoming state assembly elections later this year. His resolve follows the NCP’s recent success in Maharashtra, where the party secured eight out of ten contested Lok Sabha seats in the recent general elections.
In particular, Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, triumphed in the closely-watched battle for the Baramati seat, marking her fourth consecutive term victory over her cousin Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar.
Post the Lok Sabha polls, Sharad Pawar has been actively engaging with constituents in Baramati, preparing for the impending state assembly elections. Addressing a gathering in Shirsuphal village, he acknowledged the electorate’s reserved demeanor during the election period, reassuring them that their support was evident when the ballots were counted.
Looking ahead to the state elections, Pawar urged unity among supporters, declaring his intention to lead Maharashtra once again. Reflecting on his extensive political career, including four terms as Maharashtra’s chief minister, a decade as Union agriculture minister, and a two-year tenure as defence minister, Pawar highlighted the collective strength necessary for achieving significant goals.
While addressing local concerns, Pawar acknowledged limitations due to the current administration but promised renewed efforts post-elections to address these issues effectively.
Pawar also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contentious remarks during the election campaign, emphasizing the need for responsible discourse in electoral politics.
