Thiruvananthapuram: The postmortem report of Sheheena, who was allegedly murdered by her brother at an apartment in Mannanthala on Saturday, has confirmed that she died due to smothering and tranquillisation. The report also revealed signs of a violent assault, including multiple injuries to her chest, ribs, and right arm, indicating she was brutally beaten before her death.

Police have identified her brother Shamsad as the prime accused. Investigators believe the murder stemmed from a confrontation over Sheheena’s personal relationships. According to police, Shamsad was enraged over her friendships, accusing her of damaging her marriage and frequently video-calling friends. What began as a heated argument reportedly escalated into fatal violence.

Shamsad’s friend Vaisakh, from Chempazhanthy, has also been booked for aiding in the destruction of evidence and attempting to help shift the body. Both were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.

A forensic team and dog squad examined the crime scene on Sunday. Sheheena, who had been living apart from her husband for the last six months, was staying with her family. Her parents, who found her body and alerted police, are yet to record official statements. They were allegedly denied entry into the apartment by the accused, who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The case has shocked the community, and police have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway.
