A centuries-old temple in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka witnessed a shocking theft on Tuesday, as a revered Shivling was uprooted and stolen, prompting an extensive search operation involving scuba divers.

The incident took place at the Shree Bhidbhanjan Bhavaneeshvar Mahadev Temple, located near the well-known pilgrimage site Harsiddhi Mataji Temple. The temple priest was stunned upon discovering that the Shivling, along with its base, had been removed, while all other sacred objects remained untouched.

Seawater Search with Scuba Divers

Authorities suspect that the Shivling might have been discarded in the sea, as the detached base was later found on a nearby beach. A team of scuba divers was deployed to comb the waters for any sign of the missing idol.

Crime Branch and Forensic Experts Involved

To track down the culprits, multiple law enforcement agencies, including the local crime branch, special operations group, police, forensic specialists, and a dog squad, have been mobilized. Investigators are actively examining clues and gathering evidence.

An FIR has been lodged under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for theft, and a thorough search is in progress to recover the sacred relic.

Authorities are determined to solve the case and restore the stolen deity to its rightful place.
