In a disturbing case from Noida, a 15-month-old girl was subjected to severe abuse by a teenage nanny at a local day care centre. The attack, recorded on CCTV, showed the minor attendant slapping, biting, throwing the toddler to the ground, and striking her with a plastic bat.
The incident took place on August 4. Upon bringing her daughter home that day, the child’s mother found her crying uncontrollably. While changing her clothes, she noticed circular marks on both thighs. A doctor later confirmed these were consistent with human bite marks.
When confronted, the underage nanny bizarrely claimed she “loved” the child and her actions were out of affection, police said. Alarmed, the parents reviewed the day care’s CCTV footage, which revealed the sequence of physical assaults. The video shows the nanny initially attempting to soothe the crying child, then losing patience and resorting to violence.
The parents alleged that the day care head failed to intervene or comfort the victim and, instead, joined the nanny in using abusive language and issuing threats when questioned.
Following a complaint, Sector-142 police registered a case, conducted a medical examination, and detained the nanny. Legal proceedings are in progress. Authorities are also probing how the minor was employed and are reviewing the centre’s operational license.
The incident has sparked outrage among parents, highlighting the urgent need for stricter monitoring of childcare facilities.
