Fresh surveillance clips have surfaced, shedding light on the mysterious disappearance of University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki. The videos, obtained by Dominican news outlet Noticia SIN, display Konanki and her friends at a Punta Cana resort bar shortly before she went missing on March 6.
In one video, Konanki appears visibly unwell, covering her mouth and stepping away from the bar to vomit in a grassy patch. Soon after, she is seen rejoining her group, energetically hugging a friend and jumping excitedly.
Also featured in the footage is Joshua Riibe, a 22-year-old senior at St. Cloud University, identified as a person of interest. Riibe is observed crouched over outside the bar, seemingly disoriented, with another man supporting him. He, too, vomits shortly after.
Riibe was previously spotted in other surveillance images walking arm-in-arm with Konanki near the beach, just two hours prior to her disappearance. However, the new footage shows no interaction between the two at the bar, suggesting they were part of different groups.
Authorities in the Dominican Republic have confiscated Riibe’s passport, preventing him from leaving the country. He has been interrogated multiple times over conflicting accounts of the night. Riibe claims he and Konanki were caught in a strong tide, after which he blacked out and assumed she left the beach safely.
Over 300 personnel, including FBI agents, are involved in the intensive search. Konanki’s belongings were recovered from the shore, yet no signs of foul play have been confirmed.
