Sitapur (Uttar Pradesh): A man from Lodhasa village in Mahmudabad tehsil has lodged an unusual complaint with the Sitapur District Magistrate, alleging that his wife pretends to be a “nagin” (female serpent) at night, leaving him unable to sleep.
The complainant, Meraj, presented his grievance during a ‘Samadhan Diwas’ (public grievance redressal day) held on October 4. According to Meraj, his wife, Nasimun, is mentally unstable and regularly hisses and scares him at night, claiming to transform into a serpent.
Complaint and police response
Meraj stated that he had repeatedly approached the local police, but no action was taken, prompting him to escalate the matter to the district administration. Officials at the grievance redressal programme were reportedly taken aback by the unusual nature of the complaint.
District Magistrate Abhishek Anand instructed the police to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. A police official confirmed, “We have received a complaint and the matter is under investigation.”
