A daring rescue operation by Bihar‘s renowned snake rescuer Janki Devi, popularly known as the “Snake Lady”, has captured the attention of social media after she safely rescued a massive king cobra from a house in the state’s Bishaha village.
The incident occurred at the home of Munni Lal, where family members discovered the venomous snake inside their house. Alarmed by the presence of one of the world’s most venomous snakes, they immediately evacuated the house and alerted neighbours.
Villagers waited for trained rescuer
As news spread, a large crowd gathered outside the residence. Instead of attempting to catch the snake themselves, villagers contacted the authorities and called Janki Devi, who is well known for her expertise in rescuing snakes.
Residents kept a safe distance and ensured that no one provoked the reptile while waiting for professional help to arrive.
Rescue completed without harming snake
After assessing the situation, Janki Devi used specialised snake-handling equipment and techniques to safely capture the king cobra and place it inside a secure rescue box.
Her calm and professional handling of the operation drew praise from onlookers, with many describing her as fearless. Videos of the rescue have since gone viral on social media, with users calling her a “superwoman” and applauding her courage and skill.
Cobra released into the wild
Following the rescue, the king cobra was relocated far from residential areas and released into a nearby forest.
Wildlife experts note that snakes play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance by controlling rodent populations and should not be harmed when they enter human settlements.
No injuries were reported during the rescue operation.

Wildlife authorities advise people to remain calm if they encounter a snake, avoid trying to catch or kill it, keep children and pets away from the area, and immediately contact the local forest department or a trained snake rescuer.
