New Delhi: In the aftermath of the Bulandshahr violence where a police inspector was killed, it recently came to light that an army jawan could very well have been involved in the murder.
The jawan was recently revealed to be Jeetendra Malik alias Jeetu Fauji, a resident of Mahaw village. On Friday, December 7, a team was sent to Srinagar, where Jeetu was stationed, to bring him in for questioning. He was detained last night and is to be presented before the Bulandshahr district court. The Army has also extended its full cooperation to the police in the investigation.
During the investigation, the villagers had alleged that the bullet that killed Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, was fired by Jeetu. His relatives even told officers that he was in the area during the incident and identified him in the video. They also told officers that Jeetu was in the area at the time and was deployed in Jammu and Kashmir only after the incident.
As of now, it is uncertain whether the bullet that killed the inspector indeed came from the jawan’s gun. Now that the police have him in custody, the truth and the motive, if any, will be revealed only during interrogation.
