A stray dog mauled more than 25 people, including seven children, in villages near Chinna Salem and Cuddalore on Friday. The dog first attacked over 15 people in V Mamandur, Kallakurichi district, causing injuries to their limbs and faces. Villagers managed to chase the dog away, but it then reached Panaiyanthur village in Cuddalore district, where it mauled another dozen people.

The injured were treated at Chinna Salem Government General Hospital, with 15 people receiving anti-rabies shots. The dog has not been captured yet.
