KUMBLE: A violent clash broke out between school and college students on the evening of June 19 in Kumble market road, leading to the arrest of one youth, identified as Ismail Riyaz (20), a resident near Uppala Gate.
The incident, which occurred around 4:30 PM, involved students from Class 10 and PUC (Plus Two), with about 10 outsiders also allegedly joining the altercation. Roughly 25 individuals were involved, according to preliminary police reports.
Local shopkeepers and fish vendors tried to mediate and diffuse the situation, but the brawl escalated, prompting them to alert law enforcement. Police arrived quickly, dispersed the crowd, and brought the situation under control.
This is not the first such incident in Kumble — similar student-related disturbances have been reported in recent months, hinting at a recurring pattern of campus-linked tensions spilling into public spaces.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from a minor disagreement, but authorities are treating it seriously due to the repeated nature of such clashes. Investigations are ongoing to identify all those involved, especially the external individuals who joined the fight.
Police have assured strict action and are urging institutions and parents to keep a close watch on student behaviour to prevent further escalations.
