Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay travelled on the Chennai Metro on Wednesday as part of an inspection of the metro rail system and its ongoing operations. The visit included a review of passenger facilities and infrastructure development across key sections of the network.
The Chief Minister boarded a metro train at Omandurar Metro station and travelled to the Nandanam Metro headquarters, accompanied by senior officials of the Chennai Metro Rail administration.
CM purchases ticket during journey
During the inspection, Vijay purchased a metro ticket before boarding the train, interacting with officials while observing the functioning of the public transport system.
The visit formed part of the state government’s efforts to assess the performance of Chennai Metro services and monitor the progress of expansion projects.
Inspection of Metro expansion works
Following his train journey, the Chief Minister was scheduled to inspect metro rail operations and ongoing construction works between the Porur and Poonamallee stations.
He is also expected to review the progress of the Metro Rail construction project at Kathipara, one of the city’s key transport junctions.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on various aspects of the metro network, including infrastructure development and operational efficiency during the inspection.
The visit comes as Chennai Metro continues to expand its network to improve urban connectivity and strengthen public transportation across the Tamil Nadu capital.
