Mr. Stalin noted that a comprehensive master plan for Hosur is nearing completion. Historically known for its electronic, automobile, and automotive component industries, Hosur is now emerging as a hub for electric vehicles and related manufacturing sectors.

“The establishment of an airport in Hosur is crucial for fostering economic growth and development, not only for the city itself but also for the surrounding districts of Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri,” emphasized Mr. Stalin.

This initiative aligns with the ruling DMK’s ambitious goal of transforming Tamil Nadu into a 1 trillion dollar economy by 2030, underscoring the significance of the new airport in achieving this milestone.

Currently, industrialists and travelers from this region predominantly rely on Bengaluru airport, necessitating a local airport to cater to growing business demands and reduce travel distances.

Despite a previous unsuccessful attempt to introduce air services in Hosur, the forthcoming airport is expected to significantly benefit both businesses and local communities once operational.

Industries Minister T R B Rajaa hailed the airport project as a “monumental step,” highlighting its potential to boost connectivity and stimulate economic growth across Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, and neighboring parts of Bengaluru.

“With its favorable climate, Hosur’s new airport is poised to foster a twin-city ecosystem with Bengaluru, driving economic prosperity in both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka,” Minister Rajaa added.
