Kochi: In a major breakthrough, Kochi’s cyber police have arrested Jeb Stephen Raj, the administrator of the infamous Tamil Rockers group, for secretly recording and leaking films on social media.

Raj, a 33-year-old from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, was apprehended while filming Dhanush’s movie *Raayan* at a Thiruvananthapuram theater. He was taken into custody on June 26 and interrogated the following day.

The arrest followed a complaint from Supriya Menon, producer of the movie *Guruvayur Ambalanadoil*, which was pirated on its release day. The investigation revealed Raj’s involvement in pirating other films such as *Kalki* and *Maharaja*.

Raj would book theater tickets in advance, discreetly place his phone in the seat’s cup holder, and record the movie. He then shared the footage with other group members via WhatsApp.

The inquiry also uncovered that Tamil Rockers received Rs 5,000 for uploading each pirated movie. Raj, who had been working at a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram for the past year and a half, was linked to a piracy ring. His mobile phone was found to contain numerous HD-quality pirated movies.

This arrest has dealt a significant blow to Tamil Rockers and their piracy operations.
