A self-proclaimed tantrik from Madhya Pradesh has been booked by Baruasagar police in Jhansi district for allegedly taking advantage of a 12-year-old girl during a so-called healing ritual. The accused had been called by the family after the child experienced persistent throat discomfort and routine treatment did not offer relief.
Family misled by superstition
Police said the family had been advised by some villagers to seek the tantrik’s help, believing the child’s condition had a supernatural cause. The accused reportedly asked to conduct the ritual in a closed room and instructed the family to remain outside.
Child alerted family after the man fled
After the ritual ended, the man abruptly left the house. The minor later informed her family that she had been mistreated during the period she was left alone with him. Shocked by the revelation, the family immediately approached the Baruasagar police station and lodged a complaint.
Police register case and launch search
Station House Officer Rahul Rathore confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant legal provisions that protect minors from harm. A medical examination and procedural steps have been completed, and police teams are conducting searches to trace the accused, who is currently absconding.
