Vijayawada: KL University’s Vijayawada, KLH Bachupally and Aziz Nagar campuses have recorded their biggest placement drive so far, with 1,538 students receiving job offers from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the university has announced.

The recruitment drive saw students selected across three different TCS hiring categories, offering different salary packages based on the roles and selection criteria.

As many as 160 students were selected under the Prime category, which carries an annual package of Rs 9 lakh. Another 380 students secured offers under the Digital category, with an annual package of Rs 7 lakh.

The largest group, comprising 1,006 students, was selected under the Ninja category, which offers an annual package of Rs 3.45 lakh.

The placement milestone comes as universities and technology companies continue to focus on developing graduates with skills aligned with changing requirements in the information technology sector.

1,538 students receive TCS offers

According to KL University, the latest recruitment drive represents the largest TCS placement exercise recorded across its Vijayawada, KLH Bachupally and Aziz Nagar campuses.

The 1,538 selected students were distributed across three hiring categories.

The Prime category accounted for 160 selections, with each offer carrying a package of Rs 9 lakh per annum.

The Digital category saw 380 students selected, with an annual package of Rs 7 lakh.

The Ninja category had the highest number of selections, with 1,006 students receiving offers at an annual package of Rs 3.45 lakh.

The different categories reflect the range of recruitment opportunities available to students based on their performance in the company’s selection process.

Training focused on industry-ready skills

KL University attributed the placement outcome partly to its training and preparation framework.

The university said students underwent focused coaching in areas including full-stack development, artificial intelligence and soft skills.

The preparation was designed to complement academic learning with practical and professional skills that are relevant to technology-sector recruitment.

Students also participated in coding assessments and problem-solving exercises as part of their preparation.

Communication training and aptitude preparation formed additional components of the programme, while interview-readiness sessions were intended to help students handle different stages of the recruitment process.

Such structured preparation can help students become familiar with the technical assessments, aptitude tests and communication requirements typically associated with large-scale campus recruitment.

Artificial intelligence and full-stack development among focus areas

The university highlighted full-stack development and artificial intelligence among the areas receiving particular attention during its training programmes.

Technology employers are increasingly seeking graduates who can combine programming fundamentals with knowledge of emerging technologies.

Full-stack development covers skills associated with building both the front-end and back-end components of applications, while artificial intelligence has become an increasingly important area across software and technology businesses.

By incorporating these areas into its placement preparation, KL University said it aimed to improve students’ readiness for industry recruitment.

The training also extended beyond technical skills, with communication and soft-skills development included in the programme.

Role of Skill Development and Student Progression Division

KL University credited its Skill Development and Student Progression Division for supporting the placement effort.

The division works to bridge the gap between academic education and industry expectations, according to the university.

Its activities include mentoring students, providing structured learning pathways and conducting career-focused programmes.

The objective is to help students identify the skills required for employment and prepare for recruitment opportunities while they are still pursuing their studies.

The university said the approach combines academic learning with practical preparation so that students can better understand workplace expectations.

Mentoring and structured preparation

The placement process involved more than technical training, with students receiving guidance through different stages of their preparation.

Mentoring was used to support students as they worked towards recruitment, while structured learning routes were designed to provide a more organised approach to skill development.

Coding and problem-solving exercises helped students prepare for technical assessments, while aptitude and communication training addressed other parts of the recruitment process.

Interview-readiness sessions were also included to help students present their technical knowledge and professional abilities during recruitment interactions.

The university said these activities contributed to the strong outcome recorded during the latest TCS drive.

Three TCS hiring categories

The three categories in the recruitment drive offered different annual compensation levels.

The Prime category, which had 160 selected students, offered Rs 9 lakh per annum.

The Digital category accounted for 380 offers at Rs 7 lakh per annum.

The Ninja category had the largest intake, with 1,006 students selected for packages of Rs 3.45 lakh per annum.

The distribution means that more than 65 per cent of the selected students were recruited through the Ninja category, while the remaining candidates were divided between the Digital and Prime categories.

The range of packages also provides students with different entry points into TCS depending on the hiring category for which they were selected.

Placement milestone for KL University campuses

The university described the recruitment outcome as a significant milestone for its Vijayawada, KLH Bachupally and Aziz Nagar campuses.

Large campus recruitment drives provide students with an opportunity to enter the technology industry directly after completing their education.

For institutions, placement outcomes are also an important indicator of how effectively academic programmes and career-development initiatives are aligned with employer requirements.

KL University said the latest result reflected its broader effort to prepare graduates for employment in an increasingly competitive global market.

The institution has emphasised industry-oriented training as part of its approach to higher education, with students encouraged to develop technical, communication and problem-solving abilities alongside their academic qualifications.

Focus on global employability

KL University said the placement milestone reflected its goal of producing graduates capable of competing in the international job market.

The university’s training framework is intended to help students develop skills that can be applied across different technology roles and professional environments.

The focus on artificial intelligence, full-stack development, coding, aptitude and communication is part of this wider employability strategy.

The institution also emphasised the role of mentoring and career-focused activities in helping students move from academic learning to professional employment.

For the 1,538 students selected by TCS, the offers represent an opportunity to begin their careers with one of India’s major information technology companies.

A major campus recruitment outcome

The TCS recruitment drive marks a significant placement achievement for KL University’s three campuses.

With 1,538 students receiving offers, the drive has produced the university’s biggest TCS placement outcome at these campuses to date.

The Prime, Digital and Ninja categories together provided opportunities across multiple salary levels, with the highest package reaching Rs 9 lakh per annum.

KL University said its combination of technical training, soft-skills development, mentoring and interview preparation helped students navigate the recruitment process.

The university congratulated the selected students and said the outcome reflected its continuing effort to make graduates industry-ready.

For the students, the next step will be to transition from campus recruitment to professional roles at TCS, putting the technical and professional skills developed during their university years into practice.
