TIRUVALLUR: A 17-year-old Class XII student, S. Santosh, narrowly escaped a harrowing kidnapping on Tuesday morning while on his way to school near Kadambathur. The incident unfolded when a man in a car approached the boy, pretending to ask for directions, and suddenly forced him into the vehicle, police officials said.
According to the Kadambathur police, Santosh was taken to a secluded godown where he was allegedly assaulted and harassed by the abductors. Despite the ordeal, the teenager managed to flee and made it to Vidaiyur, where he borrowed a passerby’s phone to call his father, Saravanan.
Acting swiftly on the alert, Saravanan contacted the police, who launched an immediate operation and ensured the boy’s safety. He was rescued shortly thereafter. A formal complaint was filed by the father, and police have registered a case to investigate the abduction and identify those responsible.
This chilling incident has raised concerns about student safety in the area, with locals urging increased patrols near schools. Authorities are now combing CCTV footage and tracking leads to arrest the culprits.
