A 15-year-old Class 10 student who left his home in Sikar to pursue a career in acting was traced and safely brought back from Mumbai after six days, police said on Wednesday.
Left home before dawn
The minor, who lives with his mother and sister in a rented house in Sikar, left home around 3 am on January 9, telling his family he was going for a morning walk. He carried ₹1,000 in cash and a mobile phone, which was later switched off. His father, a school teacher, filed a missing complaint at the Udyog Nagar police station when the boy did not return.
Train journey to Mumbai
Police said the boy boarded the Amarapur–Aravali Express from Sikar railway station at 6.50 am on January 10 and reached Mumbai around 6 am the following day. The family originally hails from Kotputli-Bahrod in Rajasthan.
Survived on vada pav
During his stay in Mumbai, the boy reportedly spent nights in public places and survived on vada pav for two to three days. Officials said he believed food in the city was inexpensive. The minor is enrolled in a foundation course for JEE and NEET at a coaching institute in Sikar.
Phone call led police to him
When his money ran out, the boy switched on his phone and called a friend seeking help. The friend alerted the boy’s father, who informed the police. Using call detail records, the police traced the minor to the Juhu area on the evening of January 14.
Reunited with family
A police team brought the boy back to Sikar on January 15 and handed him over to his family. Police have advised students not to leave home without informing their families, citing safety concerns.
