A disturbing case of abduction has emerged from Tripura’s Khowai district, where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly taken away by two individuals while she was on her way to a local shop, according to police officials.
Authorities reported that the girl was walking to a store in Paschim Muslim Para when a vehicle stopped near her, and two men forcibly brought her inside. They then drove her to an isolated location. The incident occurred in a poorly lit area, which they used to their advantage.
Jayanta Dey, officer-in-charge of Teliamura police station, stated, “The suspects intercepted her and took her to a secluded spot. The girl’s cries for help alerted nearby residents, prompting a swift response.”
Locals rushed to the area, managing to rescue the girl, while the suspects fled the scene. The police later conducted a medical evaluation and filed a case based on a formal complaint submitted by the girl’s family.
One of the suspects, identified as Antar Miah, has been arrested, while the second individual, Hiran Miah, is currently evading authorities. A manhunt is underway to apprehend him.
The incident has sparked concern in the community, with calls for enhanced safety for minors and stronger law enforcement measures.
