A shocking incident in Mumbai’s Kurla (East) has raised serious concerns after a 17-year-old boy allegedly murdered an auto-rickshaw driver following a trivial dispute over seating.
Minor accused in fatal attack
The incident occurred on the night of March 16 in New Railway Colony, where the victim, 48-year-old Jayaraj Jaypal Naidu, reportedly refused to allow the teenager to sit in his auto-rickshaw.
Police said the refusal triggered an extreme reaction. In a sudden outburst, the minor allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Naidu on the left side of his neck before fleeing the scene.

The incident caused panic in the locality, prompting immediate police response. Officers from Nehru Nagar police station reached the spot, conducted a panchnama, and sent the body for post-mortem.
The victim’s son later filed a complaint, based on which a case of murder was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Minor detained, sent to children’s home
The accused, who fled immediately after the attack, was traced and apprehended shortly after. He has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a children’s home.
