Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming the State into a global innovation hub, announcing a ₹1,000 crore Fund of Funds to boost startups. Speaking at the launch of the Google for Startups Hub at T-Hub, Hyderabad’s flagship incubator, the Chief Minister urged young entrepreneurs to dream big and aim to become the next generation of unicorns emerging from the city’s thriving tech ecosystem.
CM announces major funding push
Addressing founders and industry leaders, Mr. Reddy said, “My government is creating a ₹1,000 crore startup fund of funds,” encouraging startups to leverage the State’s resources and aspire to emulate global giants like Google. The Fund of Funds was formally launched during the two-day Telangana Rising Global Summit that concluded on Tuesday, signalling the government’s focus on accelerating entrepreneurship and innovation.
Referring to the recently unveiled Telangana Rising Vision 2047 document, the Chief Minister highlighted the crucial role startups will play in the State’s growth trajectory. Telangana aims to become a US$1 trillion economy by 2034 and a US$3 trillion economy by 2047, he said, stressing that Hyderabad must evolve into a hub not just for startups but also for creating at least 100 unicorns.
Using a sports analogy, he likened startups to football: “You have to work hard, practice hard, and it’s about teamwork — but finally, winning is most important.” He urged founders to focus on product-based, innovation-led, and IP-intensive ventures to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a global innovation destination.
Google for Startups Hub launched
The inauguration of the Google for Startups Hub marks a significant milestone for Telangana’s startup ecosystem. Developed jointly by the State Government and Google, the hub aims to provide a dedicated space and support system for startups to scale globally.
Google said the hub is designed to nurture startups from incubation to innovation. Selected AI-first startups will receive free, year-long coworking space, investor access, and entry into Google’s global founder network. The hub will also offer hands-on mentoring, AI and machine learning expertise, curated programmes, and go-to-market support to help founders enhance their product capabilities and international reach.
Arijit Sarkar, Google’s Site Lead for Hyderabad, said the initiative goes well beyond offering physical infrastructure. “Our commitment will provide access to a global network, a community of founders, technology mentorships, AI and ML labs, and market strategies,” he said.
Telangana’s expanding innovation ecosystem
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu noted that the facility is Google’s fifth such startup hub globally and its first in India — a recognition of Hyderabad’s growing leadership in the innovation landscape. IT and Industries Secretary Sanjay Kumar added that the State’s ₹1,000 crore Fund of Funds will catalyse investments into early-stage and growth-stage startups.
Over the last two decades, Hyderabad has witnessed the rise of several successful companies across software services, pharmaceuticals, and life sciences. The Chief Minister said more such success stories must emerge, calling on entrepreneurs to innovate, collaborate, and build globally competitive products from Telangana.
With the launch of the Google for Startups Hub and the government’s significant financial commitment, Telangana aims to cement its position as one of India’s most vibrant startup destinations, enabling founders to access global opportunities while contributing to the State’s long-term economic vision.
