Hyderabad : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday said that Telangana results are an indication of continued dominance of Congress in South India.
Addressing reporters here, he said: “Voters of Telangana and our party workers had made up their mind to bring change in the state and the results reflect that. I would like to thank the people of Telangana and all our party workers for the victory.”
He said that Congress leaders and activists from neighboring states like Maharashtra and Karnataka had worked very hard in Telangana and that they are making every effort to send representatives from every seat to Hyderabad.
“This is a victory for the people of Telangana,” Shivakumar responded when asked if Telangana was a personal win. Telangana’s citizens have shown their appreciation to Sonia Gandhi for granting them their own state. The state’s populace voted in favor of growth and advancement because they had had enough of the previous 10 years. I am appreciative of Telangana’s people for their faith in us. We’ll put in a lot of effort to meet and exceed the public expectations.”
Replying to a query if Revanth Reddy was the architect of the victory, he said: “Revanth Reddy is the TPCC President and the captain of the team. We fought the election on collective leadership. The party will decide on the leadership, I would not like to discuss this issue at this point. We respect the party decision.”
Asked if he has a message for BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao, he said: “I don’t have to respond to this question. The people of the state have responded today.”
